Due to its proximity to the Dixie National Forrest, Zion Ponderosa
offers skiing and snowmobile excursions throughout most of the winter
season. Guests will stay in the resort's cozy cabins and eat delicious
meals at the main lodge. After breakfast, the recreation staff will
load up the shuttle vans and head for the hills where the powder is
steep and deep. Guests can choose a short shuttle ride to cross-country
skiing and snowmobiling areas, or a longer ride to the Brian Head Ski
Resort for downhill skiing and snowboarding.
Cross-country
Skiing
Guests will enjoy the scenic 40-minute shuttle ride to Duck Creek Village,
located in the heart of the Dixie National Forrest. Duck Creek is tucked
away between stands of evergreen and aspen. Duck Creek averages 20 feet
of fresh powder per year and boasts over 50 miles of groomed cross-country
skiing trails. Whether you are a beginner or an old timer, you will
love this excursion to one of the most scenic areas on the Colorado
Plateau. The shuttle ride to Duck Creek Village, cross-country ski equipment
rentals, and guide service is included for guests of the resort with
their all-inclusive stay.
Snowmobiling
Guests interested in snowmobiling will also ride the shuttle van to
Duck Creek Village. From the village, guests will depart on a 4 hour
guided snowmobiling trip through the Dixie National Forrest. Lunch will
be served on the trail. Guests can ride to Cedar Breaks National Monument,
a spectacular collection of exposed red sandstone located to the northeast
of the village. Guests choosing to participate in the snowmobiling excursion
will be charged an additional surcharge per guest. Shuttle service is
provided to and from Duck Creek Village. Please call our reservation

Downhill
Skiing and Snowboarding
Guests who are looking for a downhill skiing experience can take the
1 hour 45 minute shuttle to Brian Head Ski Resort. Brian Head boasts
Utah's highest base elevation of 9,600 feet with a vertical elevation
change of 1,320 feet. The resort's multiple runs range between beginner
and advanced. Brian Head averages over 425 inches of dry Utah powder
snow each year and has Utah's longest ski season which runs between
November and April. This all day excursion includes roundtrip shuttle
service to and from the resort, lift tickets, and equipment rental.
Adult guests will be charged an additional $75 per guest and children
ages 5-12 and under will be charged additional $60 per guest. Children
younger than age 5 are free.
